Hey great forum, I have a few questions as I just bought this jet ski.

1) my brother inlaw took my jet ski for a run, he is a big guy and when he fell off he swamped it getting back on, he did run it to get it back to the dock but we found he sucked water into the air intake and it stopped running, I removed the sparkplugs and turned the engine over many times till water stopped coming out, then I ran it for 20 mins just cruising around, I have since run the ski twice with no problems, is that ok?

2) does this jet ski have an alternator? my battery needs to be charged everytime I take it out, but then runs fine till I leave for a day? battery maybe?

3) I reside is canada, does anyone know if the 1997 Kawasaki 1100ZXi has a "compliance plate" which apparently I need to register it,but I store my jet ski a few hours away so can't go look at it.

Is there anything I should do for this ski maintenance wise anually?

I have the same ski; from what I have read and heard, you did the right thing by getting the water out of the cylinders then running it.

One thing I do on a regular basis is spray everything in the engine compartment down with a silicone lube. It helps to deter water intrusion, corrosion, and I think it keeps all the rubber and plastic in good condition.

My ski charges the battery just fine. The little "sport" batteries these things take are quite disposable, rarely making it to a second season. You may have charging issues, but more likely if the battery is old, that would be the first place to start. Your local auto parts store will have a tester that they can put on the battery to tell you its overall health.

Not sure what a "compliance plate" is unless it is like a coast guard rating.

Yes the battery is 3 years old, I will just replace it.

As far as the compliance plate, it is a canadian coast guard thing, weight, capacity all that stuff, can't register it without it I guess.

Do you know of anywhere I could buy used parts for this jet ski? (online)

I have to say it is very fast, 63MPH last weekend on the water, but not very good for passengers, I took my daughter out and it was very hard to control, quite tippy.

My ski is fast too, the 63 is probably more like 55, the speedos aren't super accurate on these skis; still pretty fast!

You'll get used to the tippy part, just gotta give it more throttle!
