JW-16 Exhaust Route

I have a JW-16 that is just plain sweet. It's tight and runs well, but needs a good carb cleaning.
I do not see water coming out anywhere so I am wondering if I should see water spray from the down tube.
Thanks,
J

All you will see if the water pump is functioning properly is a fine mist being sprayed out those small holes about half way down that long exhaust housing.

I don't see holes in the rear side of the exhaust tube.
There is, however, a rectangular washer/screw on the front side of the exhaust tube that might be the vent I am looking for. This would spray water onto the transom of the boat. Does this sound right?
Thanks,
J

I can't bring that to an absolute memory picture and don't have a parts book in front of me right now BUT halfway down on the long exhaust housing, there is something that will allow the water spray to exit. I do have a faint memory of a rectangular area on the early models where the water spray would spit out.

Thanks, Joe. FYI, memory is still good. Interesting to describe; about 1/2-way down, rectangular cover piece screwed onto exhaust tube, on the front side of the exhaust tube, cast-in vent features allow water spray out to the sides. I think this is a 1960; white. Cute engine.
Cheers!
Jim
