Maybe this is common and I just don't get around enough to see it.

I launched my boat today at a fairly steep ramp. Was out about 30 minutes before giving up to the high wind and waves on the river. I come back to the ramp, and as I approach I see a jetskier buzzing around the ramp area and doing a few tricks. As I get closer and can actually see the ramp, I notice he's used his pickup truck to launch the ski. No trailer, just the truck. The tailgate is open and the truck is backed into the water so the gate is in the water. I watch him get up a little speed on the ski and drive right into the bed of the pickup.

I wouldn't want to be the next owner of that truck.

brakes dry pretty quick... i'd be more worried about the rear diff! doesn't take much of a dunking to suck water in.

i'm assuming it was a standup... they are pretty much flatbottom, I see guys hauling them in the back of pickups all the time. USUALLY you get a couple buddies and carry it to the water though...

That would have been funny until one of the waves he created flipped the tailgate up too far for him to get the ski into the bed of the truck. However, he would have wound up in the front seat rather quickly. :D

That was thought, I wouldn't want to be the next owner of that jet ski either.

Great Story - There has to be some kind of reward for that.

But,did you ever see a jet flea nosed up to a dock, running at WOT,for over 45 minutes? I have.[he was across the river,so I couldn't ask him what he was trying to do] When the guy finally shut it down,it wouldn't start again.

Ever see 2 kids put a jet flea on a flatbed trailer and rev it up till it blew air[and smoke] out the tail ?
The best one was the guy with his family out on a brand new jet boat.Sucked something into the jet, sounded like h***.Limped it onto the trailer, and revved the heck out of it till the grinding noise quit, then put it back in the river.
What cools those things?

Most are cooled by the water they are in. However some have closed loop cooling (like a car)

However even the closed loop cooling ones need water to cool the exhaust.
