Just pondering an age old question

I shovelled the walk again today, and after doing so I sat down and had a cold beer.

The day was really quite beautiful, and the drink facilitated some deep thinking on various topics.

Finally I thought about an age old question:

Is giving birth more painful than getting kicked in the gonads?

Women always maintain that giving birth is way more painful than a guy getting kicked in the gonads.

Well, after another beer, and some heavy deductive thinking, I have come up with the answer to that question.

Getting kicked in the gonads is more painful than having a baby; and here is the reason for my conclusion.

A year or so after giving birth, a woman will often say, "It might be nice to have another child."

On the other hand, you never hear a guy say, "You know, I think I would like another kick in the gonads."

I rest my case. Time for another beer.

I hope spring comes soon. This thinking is starting to hurt.

Interesting thought, JM.

Now that my four children are all middle aged, two of them grandparents, I still count them, their children and their children's children as the greatest blessings of my life.

I would take a kick in the gonads every day rather than lose any one of them.

Hahahaha. Too funny. You definitely have a ''thinkin'' problem. But I think you may be right. And yes spring is around the corner. The lakes are starting to open.

Just to interject a little science I'll point out that it is well known in the field of anesthesiology that pregnant women require much lower doses of anesthetics than nonpregnant women. Their actual anesthetic requirement is reduced by about 30% mainly due to their high levels of progesterone.
In reality its not that women are extra tough that allows them to get through childbirth, its the fact that they are already almost 1/3 anesthetized.

I'd say case closed with that logic. :thumb:

I dunno...

Personally I think it's a choice between a pain that can incapacitate, and double you over for minutes, VS various amounts of pain that can last minutes to days.

Think I'd rather get it over quickly... Kinda like ripping off a band-aid. ;)

BTW, I've been told passing kidney stones can rival the pain of child birth. That's one that both Men and Women alike can appreciate...

Better yet, find youself a 102deg fever, load up on cold pills and then go to sleep and see what dreams are really made of.
I think that's how Steven King does it!

And they experience a temporary amnesia that makes them forget the pain. No really, they taught us that in our childbirthing class, 8 years ago. Probably the progesterone again.

I can still remember the worst gonad striking incident from my childhood. Well, I remember up to the point that I passed out! I remember waking up very nauseous.

It is amazing to see what kind of philosophy you can find in the bottom of a beer bottle!

Hell, it's equally amazing to see what kind of philosophy you can find on a boating forum!
