Sea Ray and Bayliner. Boy, those are some sharp boats in the 2006 lineup. Love those 24 foot cabin cruisers. Those babies can sleep 6!

One thing I noticed is that in the 60's and 70's there were lots of small cabin cruisers in the 16 - 19 foot size. Now all I can find in cabin cruisers are 24 foot and larger. All the boats under 24 are either bow riders, center consols or megga HP sport boats.

What happened to just taking your family out for an afternoon on the water with a hard top roof over your head in a little cabin cruiser with a table and port-a-pottie in a 17 or 19 foot boat that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to operate and you can trailer and launch in 5 minutes?

Know of anything that fits that descripton new?

I know I'm going to have to build or refurbish something to get what I want.

I hear ya Mark. Seems like all the boating Mags I get show big money cruisers. Way out of the ordinary man's league. Here's a site that has some plans for do it yourself boats that may interest you for the future. Some are pretty nifty...

web page

Rick,

Thats a great link. Some of those boats I have seen for the first time in that list, and I've been looking on and off for two years or so...

Anyway, this is a 17' cabin cruiser of the design I have in mind. In 19' it would be perfect.

Plans &Frame kit (I'm assuming no plywood), fiberglass & epoxy, and bronze fastening come to $1,495.00 Not bad.

I'd have to price it out in detail. Too bad no one makes these styles anymore.

Maybe I should start my own line of boats? :D
