Spent last week in Texas. Houston to be exact. And although I have been told that Houston isn't exactly the pearl of the state, I found the people to be really friendly and easy to work with. The state wasn't what I expected, whatever that was.

I worked and made presentations to over 100 people this week and every last one of them were open and charming. I worked primarily in the plastics market while down there, and most often with engineers and plant supervisors, but I was genuinely impressed. I was entertained in the Galeria section of town, and stayed by the new stadium. Heck, even the traffic moved quite well. What a medical industry you folks have down there! One of my customers has a hunter 34 and I have been invited for a sail next time down. (about 2 months from now) I can't wait.

My impressions of a state that has quite a history was wonderful...

Houston people are friendly till they get behind the wheel in traffic. Then its no holds barred. I drive it every day.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Southern hospitality is no myth, however at times can be misinterpreted quite innocently.
I'm glad that you had a wonderful experience and a pleasant stay.

Yup, The visits I've had to TX were great too!

Straight forward common sense folks, (kinda like JB appears to be).

After livin' near Seattle nearly all me life the difference in the people ya meet there is STRIKING. ('Course there are limits to a single brain cell).

Very little whinnin' snivelin' n' snarky Liberal stuff, (that I'm used to it here all the time). Houston is a huge city, (n' must have a ton of Libs there, but they don't seem to effect the rationality of everyday people as happens in Seattle every darn day).

Pointer: I bet yer proximity to a mid sized mid Western Liberal heaven is what made the corntrast sooooooo pleasent fer you as well.

Respectfully, JR

I've always loved Texas and Texans. Lived in Corpus (Portland actually) for a year as a child and attended 5th grade there.

Pointer,

I was in Houston last week as well and have been averaging 3 trips a month since April. We need a master iboats Calendar as we coulda caught dinner or a beer together . . .

QC,

Seatle on Monday, but no time. I got a crazy man for a salesman out there. Calls himself the scud missile cuz he never knows where he will land. He doesn't know it, but that isn't exactly endearing him to me...

Down to Mississippi in a couple of weeks and then to Minneapolis.

How have your flights been? Mine have been disasters. Expensive ones..

I kinda like the expensive ones cause it gets me in front . . . Mine have been OK, one bad weather deal a few weeks ago in Houston, but I am very lucky with flights. Rarely have any trouble. Continental 100% if I can find a way ;)

Dont ever fly any other carrier to Houston, only Continental. Trust me, they by far are the best, and Houston is their home.
