Hi this is my first post, but recently I picked up a Renken thats actually been on here, "Foggy Notion", an 88 2000 classic bowrider. Little bit of a project, but I hope to have it all set for summer. I can't seem to find much on Renken boats anywhere on the net, it seems everyone who has owned one liked it, everyone who hadn't said they're horrible LOL. I have the 3.0 Mercruiser, and I'm planning on doing new carpet, seats, and gauges and gauge panels. Is this the same hull as the 2000 classic cuddy cabin? I found a few of those, albeit trashed on the net, and what does everyone think of these for a lake boat, mostly for skiing and tubing, and just putting aroudn the lake? Does anyone else on here have one of the newer bowriders like this, with the swept back windshild?

I've got a 1990 Renken 195 Classic bowrider. We use it for river crusing, tubing etc. She has a 4.3l OMC. Great boat, lots of fun. Perfect boat for what you describe. I'm in the process of replacing the motor mounts. The factory ones were a stack of 1/8 in. plywood stacked up and thru-bolted (pretty poorly done). Your engine cowl/ jump seats are set up like mine- makes the engine really easy to remove. Check your garboard drain plug. Renken never sealed the hole in transom for the garboard drain, this will let the transom soak up water like a sponge. I originally sealed mine with 3M 5200, now with the engine out I'll use epoxy resin. Ever boat mfg. has people who love them and those who hate them, all that matters is if you like your boat.
