I know BOAT=Bust Out Another Thousand but for real. I just spend over $700 on two new trailer tires, extra hub kit, new LED lights, two spare tire mounts, and a compass. I was gong to let it go until the spring when I can use the boat but it was driving me crazy knowing the boat was sitting in storagewith a flat tire, broken trailer lights and a few other issues. I guess spending the $700 bothers me less then letting my toy sit in less than idea condition.

Well at least I can get the trailer fixed so I can pull her back to the house to work on some other boat projects I have been wanting to get done.

I empathize with your situation...

My buddy just bought a 2014 Caravelle Interceptor 24SST and already he's had to replace/repair motor hatch strut mounts, 3 pieces of vinyl cushions, batteries, battery boxes, a drain hose that rubbed a pulley (boats been in water 2 times for water test only...in Tennessee), thru-hull transducer and gauge...This is a new boat, less than 1 hour on it. Caravelle's QC is not up to par...

I feel for you...as they say... "If it has wheels, t*** or floats, you'll have troubles with it!"

I am amazed with new boats how many fit and finish issues there are. For example in my brandnew bayliner the water pump for the AC was mounted above the waterline and in my stingray which was brandnew too one of the hosts on the motor was too long and the belt rubbed through it.

Agallant80, you have only spent money on items to repair. you have yet jumped into "upgrades"

yes $1k = 1 BOAT unit.

my buddy lives on his 37' Irwin. this past year he spent 2.5 BOAT units on A/C and 8.5 BOAT units on repowering with Yanmar. the year prior it was 2 BOAT units for a new freezer and 2 BOAT units to repair his old Perkins

Im lucky, its only been .5 BOAT units on my trailer, and .8 BOAT units on propellers so far(oyster shoals at low tide are a biotch)

Well I did do some upgrades last year. I added a DVD/TV combo (which I think has been used for about 5 hours total), LED lights for cabin and cockpit, a Lowrance Elite 7 plotter and a portable generator.

Sounds like you got off easy!

How did trailer lights break after only one year?

4 seasons = 4 type's of toys, Snowmobile trailer is done fo new electrical's, bearings, new tires, sled tie downs. Now the sled needs 5 new shocks. But it will run well and safe too.
Next is both boats and I don't have enough room to list everything that needs being done on them.

Motor cycles are in there too.
Hunting and fishing, yep it cost a bunch to be me.

No idea. The last trip of the season was great until the drive home where disaster struck. First thing to go wrong was a wobble from a loose tire snapped 4 out of 6 wheel studs and rouined the other two, had to change those on the side of the road, then about 30min later some guy is flashing at me, some how something ripped off my tail light, it was there when I put the boat back on the trailer. So its 10:pm at night dark out and I have no lights on my trailer. Next best idea is to drive the 150 miles back to Raleigh with the under water LEDs on. Yeah the people behind me loved that but at least they knew there was a big trailer they were coming up on......

Live and learn All of the stuff I ordered was to fix what happend on that last drive home and to have some extra parts. one thing is for sure I will always be checking the torque on the lugs and tire pressure from now on.

And don't over tighten them either. I made the big mistake of greasing my lug nuts once before putting them on and over torqued(using a torque wrench) them because of it. I lost a wheel because of that.

I will be done as in "done with this boat project time to come up with a few more boat units for the next boat project". Its really a labor of love. No sane person would ever look at boating as a solid financial decision.

I second that. Kind of like a car hobby
