Just bought some new rods and reels, did I do good?

I found a great bait shop on the web located in Florida. I got 2 PENN 6500SS reels at $89.99 each and matched them up to the PENN Spinfisher Big Game 6766 medium/light rods on sale for $75 each. I fish for Stripe Bass and BlueFish here on Cape Cod. Did I buy the right equipment. I am a newbie fishing from a boat.

You can't go wrong with PENN equip. In my opinion I think the rods are on the light side for the reels you bought. I stay with 6' or 6 1/2' rods because they fit into the cabin. I personally use SS 5500 reels for both Stripers & Blues on the NJ coast on boat, and with those reels ,I use a 6-1/2' Ugly Stick. The action is fantastic, I don't like to haul them in! I note that penn matches them up that way on the site, think about the 6760 med. action(Only my 5$worth).I use 6500 & 7500 0n the surf.By the way the reels are a good price.
