I am not familiar with Volvo Penta systems. Was told the cooling system is closed, what does that mean? What steps should I take before a water test? The boat fires right up and sounds great and I believe the engine is a 130 hp 4 cylinder engine. Is this enough power for a 17 foot boat?

Closed cooling means it has antifreeze in the engine and a heat exchanger (like a radiator in a car). It probably has the 230A (also known as an AQ131). It pushes the boat along pretty good.

I too have a 1990 Glastron - mine is a 19 foot Sierra. Same engine. It moves along pretty good.

Thanks Fishermark, by the,way does your trim pump on that have a fuse? I ask because all I get is a click from the up trailer abs everything else,is dead. I know the pump works because when I apply voltage to solenoids it works great. Not sure if I have a switch issue or a bad contact somewhere.

Your trim system will have two relays - one for up and one for down. There are also fuses involved. Time to get your tester out and see where you have power and where you do not.

i do not have a constant 12 volts at solenoid, there is a wire coming from down solenoid that connects to the solenoid through some kind of switch, if solenoid gets power it goes down fine, it does not go up at all, no noise or click.

You might have fuses under the dash - or maybe even inline. It is usually simply best to start physically tracing the wiring.

Sending unit was bad, huge fuse relay coming from solenoid was bad, switch was stuck making it go down when key was turned on.
