No idea on props. I know someone that has a mini-raceboat. Maybe I can shoot him the question.

Looks like fun!

If possible, post a couple of side view photos showing the lower unit and bottom of the transom. From the angle of the current photos and the set-back of the engine, it looks like it is sitting too low. Click on the photo. If you look closely, you will see how high I have set the engine on this 10 foot tunnel hull.

If your engine has multiple pitch props (and most do) for sale, start by choosing a higher pitch. That is: If, for example iboats offers a 12, 13, 14, and 15 pitch, try a 14 or 15 first. If at all possible buy a used one because there is a slim possibility that you will hit the correct prop on the first try. Again, in the photo, that 10 footer uses a 10 1/2 diam. X 14 pitch cupped prop on a 50 HP engine.

As far as prop selection, you really need to ask on the prop forum. However, I don't see any instruments on the dash. At a minimum, install a tachometer then a speedometer. On the prop forum, they will need to know engine RPM, boat length and weight, load, etc. before recommending a prop.

Also, are you looking to just have a fun ride or do you want to maximise speed?

Does it have a Tach? You will need one, if you want to be within the rpm range of the motor. I would think 13 to 15 pitch. Some dealers have demo props that you may be able to try out at no cost.

Looks like a fun boat - I love the mini-bimini! Take it easy first time out, 40 HP should make that a rocket. Might want to head over to the prop section for advice on that.

I was planning on installing a speedometer and tach, engine is a short shaft and cavitation plate lines up with the bottom of the boat. looking for basically a fun ride, no too concerned about top speed

Dschroeder, I also just purchased a 1988 Addictor 333 (Also nicknamed the Bambino because it was the widest/longest of all the Addictors). From my research I have found that the motor that was most commonly found on the 333 was the Nissan/Tohatsu 40hp short shaft. My particular model was the NS40C. The prop that was used on these motors was a 10 3/5"(D) x 11 3/10"(P) 3 blade prop. The Prop that was on mine when I purchased it was Michigan Wheel #142001.

Since your motor looks to be very comparable I would recommend matching those specs for the prop. It will be a good baseline for you.

When I purchased my boat I was noticing a lack of hole shot. I also noticed that my max RPMs were about 5100 at WOT. The NS40C's max RPM range was 5200-5700. My prop was very beat up when I purchased the boat, so I assumed that was the reason for the lack of holeshot. At that time i replaced the prop with the most comparable prop my dealer had. A Michigan Wheel 10.375(D) x 11(P). Not much changed with the new prop. I am now considering dropping the pitch to a 9 or 10 to get this boat out of the water. I will keep you posted with the changes the lower pitch makes.

Below are photos of my Addictor 333.
