Hello,

Well I?m finishing up my winter boat project. I had a leak in one of the oil lines going to the VRO, I replaced that line and while I was at it I replaced all the fuel/oil lines with the exception on the filler line and the vent line (permanently mounted tank) I?m now installing the water separator and I have just a few random and somewhat dumb questions.

1. Last year at WOT the motor would stall out every once in awhile, but would start right up again with no priming or anything else. I?m assuming this isn?t a sign of a leaking fuel line because the bulb stayed firm. The motor has never been decarbonized, so could this be part of the problem? The only thing I can say is the timing is good and the compression in 130 on all cylinders. Also when I would go from 0 to WOT it would bog down a little, I assume this is just because I'm dumping too much fuel in at one time, could these problems be related?

2. (really dumb question) On my water separator there are 4 ports 2 of them have arrows pointing ?out? and they are across from each other, on the bottom of the head. The other 2 have arrows pointing ?in? and are across from each other, on the top of the head. Which 2 do I use? I would think that you use one from the bottom ?out? and one from the top ?in? But they are next to each other not across. Also do I have to cap the ports I?m not using? Sorry this is dumb but I don?t want to mess it up and believe me I can!

3. Is it possible to over prime the VRO? After purging all the air out and connecting the line, I squeezed the bulb until it was firm, which was only 1 and a half more pumps. I just don?t want there to be to much pressure and blow out a seal.

4. When you first start the motor the "water pump indicator" will drip for about 3 seconds then start shooting water. Is this normal? I just had a new impeller put in.

answers
1/ possible link in sinc problem. or dirty carbs.
2/ use the same side one in, from tank, one out , to motor, plug others.
3/ just pump till firm.
4/ normal. water has to fill the block before it gets to tale tell.
