I want to hook up a tach to my 94' 40Hp man. start, tiller handle motor. I just want to se where I'm so I can change props to get it where it needs to be.<br /> Can I get just a regular old tach from anywhere, hook it up to the motor with alligator clips and get an accurate reading? I don't have anywhere to mount a permanet one. I have a Seloc manual that tells me where the wires go so that would be no problem. Think it'll work? Clip the wires on, run then through the cover somewhere, run her up, check the readings and be accurate.
