My son is 10, about 58" tall and about 90lbs, with a size 6.5 (mens) foot. I'm looking for a decent pair of junior combo skis for him, however the ones I've seen only go up to size 7 shoe, which he did try to get into, but it was extremely tight. Plus he will likely outgrow them this year. I picked up a pair of HO skis with the Helix bindings (one-size boot, no adjustment) and they are nearly impossible for him to get on, and when he does get them on, the velcro strap over the foot is too short to connect to itself. Seems like a very poor design, but that's another topic. Anyway, does anyone know of a junior ski with an adjustable boot that fits larger than a size 7? It seems odd to me that this would be the size limit. I can't imagine that my son's foot is larger than the average 10 year old. I think an adult pair would be too long and too heavy for him.

I appreciate your comments and help.

Thanks,
Michael

There is conflicting info on those ski's. I believe the actual shoe size is 2 - 7, not 2 - 9. I was close to ordering them until I did a bit more research.

Thanks

You are correct. Obriens website says 2-7

At 90 lbs he should be able to use an adult sized combo as long as you don't get the crazy huge ones. My 13 year old has been using a pair of HO team skiis for a couple years. He's about 5ft 11, 120lbs with size 11 feet so kiddie combos have been out for a while.

Check out these. They are a short combo and appear to have the same Helix bindings as my adult combos. The sandal type bindings fit my wife (womens 6.5 and my kids size 11 feet)

Re: Junior Waterskis

I found a pair of the Blast 59's at a local boating store. The boot is a much different design that the current ones we have, and since it opens completely shouldn't be hard to get into. Getting the strap tight may be interesting in the water. We'll give them a try this weekend.

The one bad thing about Velcro is that sand gets stuck in it and reduces its holding strength. Looking forward to trying them out.

Thanks for the direction.

Just noticed your oldjeep.com site. I'll be checking it out some more. I have a 77 CJ5, 258.

You don't really have to crank them down, you just fold the sandle shut and then put the velcro strap over the sandal. They grip the foot very well without really being super tight.
