My wife's grandfather was one of the paratroopers. Thanks to 'em all.

Re: June 6 1944

One of the few times my Dad talked about the war, he told me some of his D-Day experiences. He kept those memories bottled up like so many of his fellow soldiers. But when I see the movie Saving Private Ryan, the landing scenes seem to come the closest to reality as he described and the movie is still tame. Dad lost a lot of friends that day while he managed to come through unscathed. That changed during the Battle of the Bulge.

Thanks to the few of you still around and thanks to all those brave men that fought for freedom.

I had many friends in the 101st Airborne who went in the night before D Day. Thanks to them and all who have served, including 8 generations of my own family, that we enjoy our Liberty.

We'll learn ya. :)

I was "learned" a long time ago. LOL

My father was stationed at Schofield Barracks on 12/7/1941 and fought in the Pacific Campaign, specifically Quadal Canal theater.

The attack on Pearl Harbor and the date of the D-Day invasion were firmly entrenched in my mind until I suffered a slight brain fart.

Thanks for pointing out my massive error. :)
