I developed this knot for rope a couple years ago, then last year tried it with mono and powerpro braid.

It slips out of the braid, but it's all I use anymore to tie mono. Goes fast even with cold fingers & low light conditions.

I tested it in two ways:
1. Testing against other knots - used my knot to attach one end of the line to one side of a barrel swivel, and a different knot to attach the other end to the other side, then pulling 'em apart.

2. Breaking strength vs. the line itself - used my knot to attach both ends of the line to a barrel swivels.

I tested 6, 8, 12, 14, 17 and 20 lb mono - in all cases improved clinch knot and palomar knot broke before my knot did.

With less than 17 lb test, the line consistently broke at some point other than at the knot. With 17 & 20, the line sometimes broke at the knot.

Testing the improved clinch knot vs. itself, the line broke at the knot every time.

I don't really have the tools to create a good illustration - anybody's interested I'll try to do a step-by-step.

I used colored segments to represent the line - thought it would show better what goes where.
