I have an 18ft extra wide/deep jon boat with a steering console welded by previous owner. It is located in the center of the boat in front of the back bench and I would like to move it from the center of the boat to the right side to make more room and get the cables out of the way. My question is, is this going to affect the boat a lot by having me on the right side, such as weight distribution? Or am I better off keeping it in the center? The boat is an 1982 Polar kraft if that helps any. Thanks for any help.

put it on the side, put your battery and fuel on the other side. When you drive, sit toward the center and you'll be fine.

My boat is an 1870 Aluminum jon boat with the console mounted on the right, seems to make the boat roomier than a center console, balance is not a noticeable factor, but I do keep my 72 quart cooler on the left side. Seems like you should be able to move your console over to the right without too much trouble. Good Luck!
