i have a 1969 riveted 14.5 foot aluminum boat, flat bottom, that has started leaking at the drain plug. its got cracks in the small hole/tube that the plug fits into. the plug actually goes in the hole from the inside of the boat, not the outside like NORMAL boats, the cracks look like the drain plug has started to push out too much on the hole and its spreading apart. i used to have the hole completely filled with 5200 but i wanted an easier way to drain the water. is this somting i can fix myself or must it be re welded by a shop. thanks

I'd seal that one up again and drill a new one next to it....

you could get some two part epoxy that dries tuff as steel. just make sure area is clean.

j.b. weld makes a quick drying compound also

There is a product called MarineTex that was made just for applications like yours. It is a 2-part epoxy.
