I receantly bought new sparg plugs for a 4 hp Johnson Seahorse. Should i screw them in as tight as i can or should i leave a gap. Any response would be much appreciated.<br /><br />Thank you

New gaskets. Finger tight plus 1/4 turn usually does it, Tommo.<br /><br />Good luck. :)

Does that mean i tighten it with my fingers as far as a can then turn it 1/4 with a spanner.<br />Thanks

I have been advised to cheak the impellor. What does it do and how do i fix it.

If they are Champion plugs, they must "crush" the gasket. This takes about 18-20 ft.lbs of torque. If the plugs are "too loose", they will not disapate heat properly. A wrench, or spanner of 12 inches or so, will allow you to snug them up good........ :)
