Hi all.

I found a 1986??? 28HP Johnson. Model J28-ELCDC. Serial# E6202177.

What are the differences between it and a Johnson 20HP. I ask because the lake I want to fish has a 20 HP limit.......so I was hoping to switch stickers and plates if They are the same size hoods and such.

Thanks for any info,
Kevin

What you're asking is for us to help you break the law. Nice try. ;)

One thing you have to keep in mind is that Wardens aren't stupid. They can tell an overpowered boat by sight alone. All they have to do is compare your speed to all the ones that aren't. Another thing you should keep in mind. They like to make examples of cheaters to keep the honest in line.

Lakes are like little communities. Word gets around.

I'm not breaking the spirit of the law, just the letter of the law. :D

I'm not looking to speed. A 28HP on an 18' Trophy isn't gonna be pulling skiers. I just got a great deal on this motor and was hoping to go 8-9 MPH.

You're more on base with your thoughts though........ lakes should be speed restricted or wake restricted.

Thanks anway,
Kevin

A better way to go is to trade that outboard for one that's legal. That'll solve all your problems in one shot, and you won't have to keep an eye out for the conservation officers.

That would be the best choice.

I just don't know if I can find someone willing to trade to gain just 8 HP.

Thanks for the input,
Kevin
