I’m working on a Johnson TN-27 5 hp motor and want to replace the carb cork float. Is there a plastic float I can replace it with?

If I recall the process involved drilling a smal hole lenghtwise in the mercury float

here is a post from the past...

Thanks for all this information. I really appreciate it. One more question about that plastic float. I noticed it’s not quite shaped like the cork float. Does it matter which end goes on top?

no expert but from existing cork float pics there is a small clip that locks on the post indents . it's purpuse is to drag the post & float upwards and shut off the inflow of fuel from the bottom of the bowl.... so in my humble opinion... I would put the flat side (bottom) upside like a cork.
