i am looking at a johnson td20 circa 1947. in great shape and running too! this is a little more vintage than i am used to. a few questions?
how do i look up the part numbers?
are the coils standard omc coils?
plugs? standard j6c?
impeller??
lower seal kit?
seller says the motor runs great and in pristine condition. we shall see... i just wondered how easy the parts are to find.
thanks

The Antique Outboard Club is where you want to be. Ask-A-Member Forum. Member Lloyd is the TD expert, and has the carburetor parts you need. Well, the packings anyway. Some stuff you make yourself. Hint: the Mercury float 18-7208 from here at iboats can be modified to work in your TD.

+1 to what F_R said about the float (in case you need a new float for your carb) very easy to mod.

i could not resist. will post pictures later. i paid way too much. 100 but it did kind of run, has spark really clean tank. the original owner passed on, and i did get the original owner manual and hag tags.
the swivel for the motor is broken, but i dont know if im going to turn this into a runner. mostly bought it due the cool factor.
looking at the parts list it seems that these motors are quite different from the 50's up series.

Re: johnson td 20 circa 1947 parts??

as promised here are some picts. i had to clean it and i shot a few coats of duplicolor motor clear over the original paint and decals. i hope its ok to shoot clear over the vintage motors? feel one should do something to protect the original finish.
so all the neighbors and the two cable guys all came over to gander at this marvel of 40's technology... or they all think im a hoarder i have not messed with the carb yet but i think with some carb work i can get it running.
she has spark
a really clean gas tank
and a really leaky carb, more fuel spilling out than going into the motor. i think the needle is stuck bc fuel is just about dumping in the motor. as well as outside of the carb.
so after some degreaser here she is
