Johnson Seahorse Year of Mfg?

Can anyone tell me how to determine the year of manufacture of an old Johnson Seahorse outboard? It's a model TD-20, 5.0 HP, serial no 754298. I believe that these were made between 1946 and 1949, but am trying to pin down that actual year.

Also, any one with an idea on what this motor might be worth (in reasonably good condition)? It started and ran a few years ago, but can't get it to start today. It probably just needs to be cleaned and tuned.

Thanks!

1949.

They're common as dirt. Cosmetics is about the only big factor. They made a gazillion of those things. Running, $50 to $100. Cosmetically good, more.

I have a 6 HP Seahorse Model CD-23E in super shape. The serial # is J2611447. Could you tell me how old it is?
