Just aquired a small Seahorse still in it's canvas "motopak". Model is HD 2.5, S.N.722754. I think it must be about 35 years old. Can anyone help me with more precise info, please. Thanks.
Sony Bob

Re: Johnson Seahorse id and value

Hi Bob
The HD25 was made between 1946 and 1950. From the ser# your motor was made in 1949. These were the little brothers to the TD 5hp models. The HD model is still quite common, how ever since you have the bag with it and I will assume the motor and bag are in nice condition, there should be some collector intrest. There are lots of classic outboards available and not that many collectors in comparison, so prices tend to be a little soft.for most motors. But I think your may bring a little higher than average price. What,s it worth? I really don't know. you and a buyer will have to work that out.

Thank you for the prompt reply. This engine belonged to a friend. I promised to make sure to get it into running condition and maintain it for as long as I was capable. Actually, no interest in selling; just happy to have it and take stewardship. This is a great site! Bob
