Re: JOHNSON SEAHORSE 5 HP OUT OF STORAGE

Here are some givens.
Lower gear unit oil. Drain that puppy and feed well.
Would giver new spark plugs.
Check the wires to see if any open wires. Chances could be that rodents thought this would be a perfect river rat home.
And checking the carbs wouldnt hurt either.
The best tip of all. The more pre-maintenance work you do ahead of time causes less embarassment when sitting at a dock scratching head with an oar. (Was a glutten for punishment myself before)
Hope this helps, plenty of more tips for others to post, but this will getchya some time in the garage till then.

Howdy, KH.

My book covers 1922 through 1964 and I find no LD-10 model. There was a LT-10 5hp. in 1940 and a CD-10 5.5hp. in 1954.

Can you check the numbers again?
:)

Hi Klinkerhead. The motor is a 1965 model. The fuel/oil ratio is 50/1.
I'd put the muffs on it and try to crank it. If it doesn't start then you have a place to begin.
