Johnson Seahorse 3hp JW10 tuning question

Hello, I have a JW10 that I am tuning. While setting the point gap, does it matter where the throttle lever is set? Should it be full close, full open, in the middle or does it not matter?

It really doesn't matter but I used to set them at full open. Just a habit I guess.

makes no matter where the throttle is set.....but setting points with a fixture or an ohm meter can make a big difference.

Not for points timing but for carb timing it is. Put throttle as shown.
