Johnson PTT colors

I'm connecting a 96 150 Ignition wire harness a 1990 150.
The 90 has 4 wires for TT
BLUE, GREEN, RED, AND BROWN.
the 96 has BLUE ,GREEN AND A WHITE
I only have a manual for the 96.
I would think the red would connect with the white with tan stripe for power.
What is the brown on the PTT plug for?

I'm using my harness because the 96 will be rebuilded and put back on my boat eventually. Thanks

Some PTT units power a tilt gauge. That is likely the brown wire's function.
