Johnson outboard,unknown year and severe powerloss

I have a 60hp johnson, model # 060elerv, serial# g 03600558, what year is it? I just bouhgt the boat( its my first), and have taken it out twice . when heading back in I powered down , then when I tried to take off again I only had about a quarter power . Its extremely frustrating to have problems on the second tripon the water. I hope someone can help me. I hope I havent bought a lemon.

Hi, Jeremy.<br /><br />Your engine is a 1994.<br /><br />It is down one cylinder.<br /><br />Go to www.outboardrepairs.com and look up power loss. Follow the advice to isolate your problem.<br /><br />Get a Repair Manual.<br /><br />If you get stuck, come back and tell us what you have done and what you found.<br /><br />Your engine will be humming in top shape before you know it.
