Johnson motor wants to die

Hi guys, I have a 1989 Johnson 8hp outboard that looses high end power after it runs for a while. I can bring it back to idle and speed it up again and it runs for a while longer then powers out. I have checked the fuel pump and gas lines. Everything there seems to be OK. It will idle all day thou, great trolling motor.

Well, could probably do an edit, and simply delete what you wrote. On the other hand, would be helpful to know how you solved the problem (if you did) -- or maybe that it was just a dope slap thing (could prevent one of us from doing the same thing). Tank vent, for example?
