johnson leaking gas from carbs and bogs

I have a 1975 85HP johnson motor, runs okay half way but when full throttle it bogs really bad. Its also leaking fuel from the carbs. Seems like its coming out from a hole in the carb, the hole has threads maybe looks like there should be a bolt there or something. I really have no idea.<br />What can I do to find out what the problem is, and how can I fix it?

First thing id check is to see if a screw is laying in your motor pan that came loose. I wouldnt run it too much if you have gas coming out like that,could start a fire.

SY - you need to order the OMC service and part manual for your motor. The parts manual has diagrams which show each part, and where it goes and will show all of the carb parts. You can find the manuals here as well as other places:<br /><br /> http://www.theoutboardwizard.bizhosting.com/parts_service_and_owners_manuals.html <br /><br />Sounds like you have crud in the carbs in addition to whatever is missing. Clean well & put in a new kit.

I agree with Solittle, a manual, a carb cleaning and new carb kits are the way to go. <br /><br />Sounds like your carb floats could be sticking...maybe take the butt end of a screwdriver and tap the carb float bowl to see if this will free up a potentially stuck float. In the end you are going to have to disassemble and clean the carbs, but that might get you going for the immediate time being.<br /><br />Good luck!<br /><br />Brew
