Johnson/Evinrude

I am thinking of buying a 1988-1992 Johnson/Evinrude 150 hp. Can any one offer opinions on the reliability and durability. Any comments on what to look for in a used motor? Also any information regarding OMC and their being bought by Bombardier? Thank You

I would suggest a little newer 60 degree V6. A better engine. If you buy an older one, check the compresson and gear oil to make sure their both up to specs. I have had a few of these older motors and have had good service from them.

thanks, when you say a little newer, what year or approximate are you talking about? Do you know what the specs are for the compression and gear oil?
