Johnson engine family

So the ID plate on my outboard says it is part of the below Johnson engine family

I'm guessing that there is a range of outboards within a certain hp rating that are essentially the same unit with different tunes or something to set them apart.

My questions are how can I decipher the engine family code and what can anyone tell me about this range of outboards?

The model number is J150PLSTF - I got
J - Johnson
150 - 150hp
P - power steering
L- 20inch shaft
ST - 2003
F - model run /suffix

Google isn't being overly cooperative when it comes to researching these units so I'm struggling to find much info.

Go to the section after horsepower, P represents power steering.

I do have power steering, but that's kind of irrelevant to what I'm looking for. I'm more interested in engine specific information, or what engines are in this particular family.

I only added my model number for interest sakes in relation to my question about the family number.

Just so little information out there, that link is the most information I've found so far...

Does that nomenclature apply to models 2000 and newer ???----Post a picture of the power steering pump and cylinder.----It is just a simple 60 degree V-6 looper.-----Essentially the same from 1991 to end of production.

I really don't know what models that nomenclature applies to. That website is about the extent of what I can find online researching.

I meant I have hydraulic steering, still power steering but wouldn't be one incorporated into the outboard. Just the typical one fitted to a lot of boats.

Also not overly concerned whether it's a factory Power steering or not. More interested it the engine family side of things and where I could find more about that. For example if there was a 115hp and 175hp models in this range that may share a lot of common components it might help me source parts if I know they're all the same.

I'm not very familiar with outboard engines which is why I want to do the research, pic attached is the info I'm trying to work with

I'm with race on this one... P is for power trim and tilt, look lower on your chart....as far as engine family is concerned, I've never heard of anyone looking that up for information related to what they need.

Part number cross reference is what most do for engine compatibility.

That's all good. But I have nothing to check against. I'm not very familiar with outboards which is why I'm chasing as much information as I can find.

Type in model number or go by year. Race is right though....so not sure on the big research thing.

You have a 2003 White Johnson and only powerhead parts from 2001-2006 60° carb engines will fit. 1991 and up V6 gearcases will interchange with a driveshaft/shift rod swap
