I just changed the vacuum switch and I suspect that it is the wrong part because now the alarm sounds when I run the engine. I have eliminated the possibility that there is a fuel problem due to the fact that I have just replaced the whole fuel system including the tank. At this point I am considering bypassing the alarm. I dont know the wiring, is there any advice about this that may help?

Got a model#?? Don't disconnect the switch unless you're looking for a blown P/H.

I am unable to find the model number, the tag was removed by previous owner. What can go wrong without the alarm for the vacuum sensor?

Re: Johnson buzzer

You could get a fuel restriction and not know it and the mtr would run lean. The switch was put on the mtr for a reason.

Are we talking about the heat horn? or Is this another buzzer that I am unaware of?

What would be the next best step in resolving the problem?

Re: Johnson buzzer

You can test the vacuum switch with a vacuum pump and an ohmmeter. Put the ohmmeter across the wires and pump to 4 " Hg and you should show no continueity. When you pump it to 7" Hg it will show continuety. Anything less than 7" is bad.
