My 9.5 shifts fine into gear, but when i open the throttle even a quarter turn, it pops back into neutral. I put a new clutch dog cradle in it a week ago. the dog looked ok, but i didn't really know what to look for. any ideas? thanks.

Any rounded edges on the dog or gear will cause it to jump.

I believe if you check Leyroy's Ramblings (a wealth of information on small Johnson/Evinrude motors) on
the gearcase article, he mentions reversing the dog clutch when rebuilding it. The concept is that you
rounded edges won't affect reverse very much, because you typically don't use heavy throttle. And you
get the relatively unworn edges from the reverse gear in forward.

Thank you. I actually pulled it apart while i was at work last night and flipped the clutch dog. Hopefully this fixes the problem, because a new clutch dog is expensive. If it doesn't fix it, I'm pretty sure it's gonna be a rigging issue, which is not something im good with. thanks for the help.
