Johnson 88 I was having an issue with it running out of fuel when running wide open, I rebuilt the fuel pump and that fixed that issue but when I got the sand bar and let it set for awhile I could not get it to crank back and had to be towed in, pulled the carbs apart today and everything seemed good to the naked eye is the anything that can cause a flooding issue on the besides the float, needle and seat? I haven’t built the carbs yet

how do you know it was flooded, did you pull the plugs and crank the excess fuel out of the cyl's ?

i flooded my 150 in Boston harbor by accidentally leaning against the choke whilst under way, i held the throttle wide open and cranked it to clear the cyl's and it restarted ok.

test the float needle by using a section of hose on the gas inlet nipple, , with the bowl empty you should be able to blow through, flip the carb inverted and the needle should close the inlet and not allow air flow.
give the float a shake to make sure it isn't filling with gas, otherwise rebuild and test by blowing through as described before bothering to reinstall.

I did the float test last night. And it sealed, I say it was flooding because fuel was run out the front of the carbs. But I cleaned the and re installed, pulled the plugs and dried them and reinstalled and cleared the cylinders before re installing. Now it’ll start for about 5 seconds and stall, no more fuel running out the front. And we stopped at the sandbar to hangout and when we went to leave the boat wouldn’t crank, and I’m not sure if my overheating alarm works or not

I didn’t have it last season, but I’ve checked compression, spark is good, i disconnected the big red connector to see if it may be the ignition switch and it still did the same thing, and it doesn’t have a kill switch that I know of, that’s about all I know to do. It starts for about 5 seconds now but dies, compression is 120 on all
