Hello, I have a questio. I have 1990 Johnson 70 VRO. This has a separate oil resivore. The problem is when I run the motor full speed for a short time, the warning buzzer for oil mixture sounds and the motor loses RPM and runs real bad. After a few minutes, alarm quits sounding and it will run fine until I go full throttle again.<br />Any suggestions? Thanks.

I would disconnect that vro so fast it would make your head spin! When a Johnson is ten years old and the vro is still depended upon, your just asking for trouble. Im not sure how to fix the problem, but I would be on the safe side and start mixing the gas and oil myself (50to1). Call a dealer and he will probubly confirm this.

Outboardboy, how do I disconnect the VRO? Also if I decide to fix this is it expensive. One mor thing, I ordered a new sending unit that goes inside the oil tank. Could thid have been the problem? Thanks for your reply.

Outboardboy, the problem I was having was overheating. I changed my water pump and thermostat today and the problem was solved. Thanks for your help.
