Johnson 60hp vro

Hi all, my 1985 twin cylinder Johnson 60hp vro has recently began idling very slow and dieing out in the sea. I have scewed in idle adjustment scew to get a reasonable idle (nearly all the way), but have noticed the idle speed is extremely fast with washout muffs on. Any ideas why my idle speed should of slowed in the first place . Thanks for any help. Ken

I'll answer your question with another question. When were the carbs last cleaned and rebuilt? If the answer is I don't know, never, or three years ago, its overdue as they are likely gunked up (yankee for full of varnish/debris).
