I have an older two cylinder Johnson outboard. After travelling about 1-2 miles out it bogs down and wont accelerate. The engine continues to run. I can put it in neutral and increase the RPM's but once under load it bogs down. If I turn the engine off and wait one minute it runs fine again for another minute and then bogs down. The pressure bulb on the gas tank dos not seem to get very hard, could it be gas?Does anybody have any ideas? I have been told to replace the thermostat but heard it is a really though job. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Johnson 60HP outboard

Thanks for the help. I don't understand why it would run fine and then bog down

.If it is just gas starvation that is great. I did spray the carb with carb cleaner. It seemed to run a little longer, but not much.

Thanks again.
