I have a 1968 Johnson 5hp. Where does the water pee out the back at? I have ran it for two to three minutes with no water coming out. I feel the block and it is not getting hot so I am confused a little. If so need a little help with where the impeller would be located.

Thanks
Michael

The water will spray out with the exhaust. The impeller is inside the lower unit just above the gear housing. If you can touch the head while the motor is running and not get burned, it's probably OK, but, changing an impeller isn't difficult and is important maintenance so you might consider a new one.

not really. doesn't have a constant steady stream out of the back or side of the motor more of a spitting spraying sort of flow which is mixed with the exhust, but the spray should be cool to the touch when out on the water. may get a bit warm if you run it in a tank for too long and cycle the same warmed exhasut water over and over.

If running in a barrel be sure the water is up to the mounting bracket.
