The throttle on my Johnson 50hp won't work from the control box. It works in reverse, but not forward.

I can work the throttle manually, and the engine runs great.

I think the cable is stuck, but it works in reverse. Is reverse control by an electric motor or something?

Can someone give me the correct part number? The model number is 50ESL71S.

If I can't get a throttle cable before this weekend, is there any danger running the boat throttle manually?

Thanks for any help.

Howdy, 'Stang.

If your throttle control works in Reverse, but not Forward the trouble is in the control box. There is only one throttle cable. The mechanism in the control box operates it either way.

Good luck. :)

you have a eletricshift foot there is onley one cable going to your motor if throdles up in reverse the cable isnot stuck or broke . disconect the cable frome the enguin . see if the cable moves back and forth.there is 2 wires that goes to the foot that activates the nutral and reverse. it stayes in foward till the enguin is spinning to activate power.papasage]]]]]]

I'll take a look at my manual and see what it has to offer. I'll also take a look in the control box.

What is electricshift foot?
