Hi,

I'm not sure I've got a problem or not, maybe? Engine is a '95 Johnson 50 and runs 5700 rpm wot, always starts and hasn't missed a beat!
I've seen temperatures (based on the gauge) near 220/240 on my temp gauge on a few seperate occasions this season. Each time it was at extended idle. If I run off idle temps will drop back down to 150/160 quickly. Water pressure is 3/5psi at idle and 15/18psi WOT. Warning horn did not alarm and is working. This spring I installed a temp gauge with a VDO sender that screwed into a 1/8 NPT tapped hole in the head (I used thermal grease as well). This hole is in the middle of the two cylinders and protrudes inward like a spark plug. Gauge reads 80/240F and it seems to be accurate. I troll with this thing and would just like to prevent any future damage... Any ideas?

Thanks!
