johnson 50 hp piston

hi.
i got in my hands 50 hp powerhead made in 1985 to put together.
i didnt work with this type of pistons.
there is a window cuts on piston skirt.
which side should i orient this piston into cylinder ?

I believe any writing on the piston dome should be normally oriented when installed, .ie with the block vertical, a stamped number will be read left to right. Also, some are stamped "UP" on the dome.

ok. but ther is no "up" on piston top flat side.
i think this window cuts should be oriented to suction side of powerhead block. Am I right?

Post the model number of.block off the the little silver plug on the top of cylinder near lifting eye.
