Motor was submerged last fall thanks to my idiot brother. I have already replaced the ignition system and got motor running. When I take off choke it stalls. I reset the high and low speed needle valves to what service manual reccomended. Does anyone have any suggestion or advise?

That is a great model to own. Laughed out loud about the brother comment. We've all had those brothers, but then, so have they.

You need to pull your carb apart and give it a very good cleaning and a new kit. After that I'm thinking you will do well as long as she isn't rusted up inside. How soon after the dunk did you have it running? Best of luck. Rick.

What Rick said ^^^. Be sure to remove the welch plug in the top of the carb throat and clear out the three tiny orifices in the throat. There is a new welch plug in the kit.

Hey guys thanks for the insight. I took carb apart and their was alot of gook in there! I cleaned it out with carb cleaner and blew it out with air hose, all looks good . JB, I didn't see the three orifices that you were speaking of, could you be more specific as to their location? Also, does the fine thread adjustment screw go on the top or bottom? When I dissassembled I didn't realize they were different, and since they are brass before I reassemble I want to make sure I have it right. Afriend of mine who works on motorcycles stopped by and thought their should be some sort of air filter on carb, is that true? It didn't have one when I got it and I used it for two summers without one.

No air filter on it as it runs in a very undusty (new word) environment. Not positive about the needles but my money would be on the fine being the slow speed. Just try them as they won't thread into the wrong holes. Glad you're making progress. Rick.
