hey guys, Im looking to convert my 48spl manual trim to power trim.
I did some searching and saw that Cnc and 1 other makes a Power trim kit that adapts the motor to it. However the project im working on isnt worth spending the 600 buck on in that manner.

So my questions that im havent found the answers to yet are this.

1. Will a power trim motor mount from like a 50hp johnson fit in place of my 48 spl motoer mount?

2. If so what what models use the same mounting bracket size? (ive seen several links for used power trims that say "fits 70 to 115hp" so i figure that mount brackets must be somewhat standard????)

3. Or can a replacement power hydrolic ram replace my non powered one?

I believe my 48spl is a 91 model. Thanks!

Re: Johnson 48 spl tilt trim question.

dug up an old post and found this...

"Based on the part number 0397532 [superceded by 0438135] ... looks like it works for 1989 thru 1996 - 40, 48 & 50 hp."

So im going to assume if i found a scrap 40 or 50hp motor with working power trim then it should fit. correct?
