Johnson 3hp motor questions

I have just bought a nice little Johnson 3 hp motor. The model # is JW18R and the serial # is B109026. I would like to try it but want to know what year it is and what the fuel/oil mix should be.

very simple engine, 1963 24-1 fuel ratio, points gapped at .020. consumable parts available laingsoutboards.com service manual "http://www.outboardbooks.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=models.main&year=1963&ID=110575" i have a 1959 3 hp.

Spark plugs are Champion J4C (replaced J4J) gapped at .030".

There have been small outboards built with more features, but nobody ever built a better one.

Thanks for the information. Now to see if it runs with new plugs and gas.
