Hi again all,
Well my boat is now in the South of France and operating fine (due to your help !) one problem - which I think may be associated with the prop.
During acceleration the grips and pulls great but then beyond approx. 85% throttle the motor spins as if the prop has nothing to do as if it has lost its water. The motor cavitation plate is set correctly with the bottom of the boat. The only way to stop the motor racing is to back off throttle and try to get to the plane once more.
I am aware my prop is badly worn - could this be the problem ? - Which prop should I go for ? - the stamp on the current one is P966 - the boat is used for generally speeding about / pulling ringo's etc and is only light fibreglass (14 feet LOA).Please can anyone suggest a propellor which may solve my problem and will also suit the purpose? Many thanks.

If your prop is badly damaged it may be cavitating, Graham, but it is more likely spinning on the hub. Either way it needs repair or replacement.

Most experienced boaters carry a spare prop aboard. Take your prop to a prop shop, get it repaired, buy an appropriately pitched spare.

Good luck. :)
