Johnson 35 HP Electric Output

Measuring the three cables running off the generator (yellow, yellow-grey and yellow-blue) I have measured 12 Volts between yellow and yellow grey above 1500 RPM; approx. 5 Volts at idle speed - no measurements on yellow-blue. Before I buy expensive connectors and rectifiers ... anybody knows whether this measurements are normal, and what the amp. output of the engine at cruising speed is? Thank you !!
