I'm tuning up a motor for my parents and i'm stuck at the moment with removing the lower unit from the midsection...

the motor is a Johnson 30HP twin J30TELENR ...i believe i'm stuck on the shift linkage, but cannot find where to disconnect it, the motor has a plastic paddle shifter on the RH side and so far the lower unit has dropped about 1/2 inch but will not come any farther...

Thanks for the help

On some of those engines the shift linkage must be disconnected under the carb. Maybe yours? And did you try moving it thru F-N-R?

I have a 35 Evinrude where the linkage disconnect is a nut in the leg between the 2 plastic water inlets
