I'm kind of new to boats and motors, so please bear with me as I get stuff figured out.
I recently acquired a 16', flat-back canoe, and I am looking for a light outboard motor to put on it. There is a local guy that has a Johnson 2R76S motor for sale. He is asking $200obo and says that it runs great. Is that a fair price? If not, what would be a fair offer?

Next, in talking with my hunting partner about boat stuff, he said I should make sure that whatever motor I get has a Limited Slip Diff since I'll be using the canoe a lot in weed, shallow waters. I wasn't aware that boat motors had LSDs (I know about shear-pins to prevent you from stripping the gears if you hit a stump or rock) and I can't seem to find any info with Google. Is he just using an incorrect term?

Basically I am looking for information to help in picking out a small motor for my canoe, but I have a very limited budget. The canoe will be used for waterfowl hunting in the falls and some fishing in the summers, but when I'm fishing I'll probably just use paddles. Whatever info/help I can get is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think if the motor is in running condition 200 is not too bad. Maybe he will take less. That motor will not have limited slip.I think it is direct drive. Meaning when started it is in gear and no neutral. For reverse the motor can be turned around 360 degrees.
