Johnson 2HP Lower Unit Stuck

Hello,

1985 Johnson 2HP. I am attempting to change the water pump on this guy but the driveshaft seems to be stuck in the crankshaft. I have turned the motor upside down and let penetrating oil run down the driveshaft several times with no luck. There is obviously no shift rod to disconnect and I don't want to put too much pressure on the LU and damage the housing or water pump. Does anyone have any tricks to get the lower unit off? What you are doing is about the only hope. Give it plenty of soak time. If that doesn't get it, you will have to get violent and see if you can pull the shaft and water pump pin up out of the pump. That won't be easy, because of the stainless liner in the pump. Then once you get the lower unit off, pull the powerhead and see if you can yank the shaft out of the crank.
